Expanding Across Key Indian Tech Hubs
Based on its strategic expansion and recent high-level engagements, Open Cosmos is focusing its efforts on several key Indian cities:
-
Bengaluru & Hyderabad: As India’s primary aerospace, tech, and space-tech epicentres (and home to private space innovators and launch capabilities), these cities are core hubs where Open Cosmos has been engaging with local private and public organizations, engineering talent, and industry partners.
-
New Delhi: The administrative base where CEO Rafel Jordà held high-level discussions with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, and President Droupadi Murmu to align with India’s Space Vision 2047.
-
Mumbai: A vital commercial and financial center where the company is exploring trade, investment, and private sector collaboration for telecommunication constellations and Earth observation infrastructure.
Rather than operating as an outside service provider, Open Cosmos is laying the groundwork to integrate with India's domestic space ecosystem—collaborating around satellite manufacturing, AI infrastructure, and joint launch capabilities.
The discussions coincide with India’s Space Vision 2047 initiative, which aims to transform the nation into a sovereign global space power through increased private sector investment and technological self-reliance. India’s space economy is currently projected to reach $44 billion by 2033.
"Our visit is about listening, building relationships and exploring where we might collaborate and grow for the long term," said Rafel Jordà Siquier, Founder and CEO of Open Cosmos. "Our vision is to work with India, not simply provide services to it."
Open Cosmos operates four manufacturing facilities across Europe. By forging direct partnerships with Indian launch providers and technology firms, the company hopes to enhance the interoperability and resilience of global space infrastructure.
