Proposal To Be Sent To Centre

Airport To Boost Connectivity And Logistics

Positioned as Uttar Pradesh’s largest greenfield aviation project and a second major aviation hub for the National Capital Region (NCR) alongside Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport, the multi-runway airport at Jewar is expected to transform industrial logistics, cargo transport and passenger travel across northern India.

Project Timeline

The project was conceived as early as 2001 but remained stalled for decades amid policy changes. In June 2017, the Ministry of Civil Aviation granted in-principle clearance for the project. Land acquisition and concession agreements with Yamuna International Airport Private Limited, a subsidiary of Zurich Airport International, were finalised between 2019 and 2020. Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for the airport on November 25, 2021.

According to the draft, Phase 1 of the Noida airport was completed in the first quarter of 2026, with Modi inaugurating the facility for commercial flight operations on March 28.
