Make in India Push: Navy to Receive 20 Indigenous GNSS Jammers

New Delhi, June 10: The Ministry of Defence on Wednesday signed a Rs 449-crore contract with Bengaluru-based Accord Software and Systems Private Limited (ASSPL) for the procurement of 20 Enhanced Capability Global Navigation Satellite System (ECGNSS) Jammers for the Indian Navy.

The agreement, signed under the Buy (Indian–Indigenously Designed, Developed and Manufactured) category, mandates a minimum indigenous content of 75 per cent, underscoring the government's push for self-reliance in defence production.

The contract was signed in the presence of Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh in New Delhi.

According to the ministry, the ECGNSS jammers are designed to degrade an adversary's ability to acquire and track satellite navigation signals. The systems are also capable of signal spoofing and deceptive jamming, enhancing the Navy's electronic warfare capabilities.

Officials said the induction of these jammers will strengthen the operational safety of naval platforms and enable ships to function effectively in complex and multi-threat environments.

The ministry described the deal as a significant step towards bolstering India's maritime security architecture while advancing the objectives of the Aatmanirbhar Bharat and Make in India initiatives.

It added that the procurement marks another milestone in the country's efforts to indigenise advanced military technologies and enhance defence preparedness.
