Noida Woman uses Abusive Language for PM Modi: Noida Police filed a Zero FIR against a woman over alleged abusive remarks against PM Narendra Modi during a student protest.

New Delhi, July 31: The Noida Police has filed a Zero FIR (First Information Report) against a woman who allegedly used abusive language against Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The complaint was filed by a Ghaziabad resident, alleging that the woman insulted the Prime Minister and seeking action under several charges, including defamation. The incident took place on July 23 during the student-led protest at Jantar Mantar, police confirmed.
A woman named Smriti Singh registered her complaint with the Expressway Police against Ruchika Singh, a resident of Noida. The FIR stated that Ruchika's statement hurt the dignity of a constitutional office and was made with the intention of spreading hatred and disturbing public peace.
A Zero FIR is a First Information Report that can be registered at any police station, regardless of where the crime took place or who has jurisdiction over the location. In this case, the FIR was filed under Sections 352 (intentional insult to provoke a breach of peace), 353(1) (statements conducing to public mischief), and 356(1) (defamation) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
In a one-to-one conversation with news agency ANI, Cockroach Janata Party spokesperson Saurav Das said the woman's act could be condemned, but "using the criminal justice machinery to target and harass her through the police is absolutely unjustifiable."
Delhi Government's Order on FIRs
On Thursday, the Delhi government issued an official order directing the Delhi Police not to take any adverse legal action against individuals who participated in the Cockroach Janata Party-led protest in the national capital. However, it maintained that those with a criminal background would not be granted the relief.
The Home Department said that, with regard to arrests or detentions, if any had already been made, the process of reviewing the arrests and releasing the arrested persons would be undertaken expeditiously.
The Delhi Police has registered 13 FIRs in connection with the violence during the 'Chalo Sansad' march organised by the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) on July 20. Police have also identified more than 2,800 people with a criminal background who participated in the protest march.
This comes after the Supreme Court directed the Delhi Police and the state authorities not to take any coercive measures (such as arrests or harsh punitive actions) against protesting students named in the existing FIRs.
