New Delhi, June 18: A day after meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi in person at the G7 Summit in France, US President Donald J. Trump on Thursday revived discussions around the more than USD 20.5 billion investments planned by Indian companies in the United States. He shared a post by Sergio Gor, who highlighted that these investments would help create jobs for American youth.

"Under President Trump’s leadership, investment is flowing back into the United States at record levels! Indian companies plan to invest over USD 20.5 billion across various sectors, including technology, manufacturing, and pharmaceuticals," read the post shared by Gor on X (formerly Twitter) in May.

Trump shared the post along with a picture of himself and Prime Minister Narendra Modi taken during the G7 Summit on Wednesday. The two leaders have met face-to-face in 16 months, as the tensions between the two countries rose due to several reasons, including tariff threats, death of Indian sailors in a US attack on an oil tanker near the Strait of Hormuz last week.

The two leaders held a bilateral talks at the G7 meeting, when Trump orally promised to help India if any country would attack it. "I think it's a great relationship. I can tell you this – without having a contract, we don't have a contract – but if they were attacked, we would be there to help them," he said.

During the customary family photograph at the G7 Summit, PM Modi stood next to Trump and said, "We are always ready", when asked if everyone was ready for the picture.

He further noted the growing momentum in bilateral economic ties, saying, "This includes the 12 Indian companies who announced USD 1.1 billion in investments just today."

"These partnerships are creating real American jobs and building stronger supply chains. Proof that when the world's largest democracies do business together, everyone wins," the post added.

The remarks were linked to the 2026 SelectUSA Investment Summit, where Indian firms made a record number of investment commitments.

According to U.S. Embassy & Consulates in India, Indian pharmaceutical companies announced plans to invest more than $19.1 billion in the United States, anchored by Sun Pharmaceutical’s planned $11.75 billion acquisition of New Jersey-based Organon & Co. Indian Institute of Technology Madras Global Research Foundation will invest $4.5 million to establish a U.S. research and collaboration hub in California, with plans for an additional East Coast location.
