New Delhi, June 17: A woman with a disability was asked to leave after she requested the driver of an Uber cab she had booked to make space for her wheelchair. The woman, who shared a video from inside the cab, claimed that the driver refused to accommodate her wheelchair in his vehicle and asked her to book another ride. What disturbed her the most was the driver's apparent lack of sympathy as she struggled to step out of the car.

The video has now gone viral on social media, raising questions about the lack of basic facilities and accessibility for people with disabilities in India. In the video, the woman said this was the reality of life for people with disabilities, which "the world has made way too difficult."

"I was thrown out of his car, saying that I could not keep my wheelchair in his vehicle. So I had to step down and book a ride again. This was Uber. And see, there is no shame or remorse on his face," said Pratishta, the woman who was asked to leave by the driver.

No Response from Uber Yet

She insisted that the matter should reach Uber's higher authorities so they could train their employees to treat passengers respectfully.

"...and I want this person to face consequences. Please tag Uber so they can teach their employees that this is not the way to deal with a passenger," said Pratishta.

She originally shared the video on her Instagram account. In one of the comments on the post, she said that Uber had not responded to the incident despite the video garnering over four lakh views.
