New Delhi, June 24: Zoho Chief Scientist Sridhar Vembu has publicly welcomed what he describes as a positive change in the functioning of the Tamil Nadu government under Chief Minister Vijay, citing the experience of a rural school project that had struggled for approvals in the past.
Vembu said that Kalaivani Kalvi Maiyam, a rural school providing completely free education to children, had faced significant delays in obtaining official approvals during the previous regime. According to him, despite the institution being a non-profit initiative serving rural students, approvals were repeatedly delayed and monetary demands were allegedly presented as the only way to move the process forward.
However, he noted that the situation changed after Vijay became the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, with approvals reportedly being processed quickly and without unnecessary hurdles.
“I am very happy to appreciate this positive development in our state,” Vembu said, thanking Chief Minister Vijay for what he called a “refreshing change” in governance.

The entrepreneur did not stop at praising the current administration. He also launched a sharp criticism of the previous government, arguing that corruption had reached unacceptable levels in Tamil Nadu.
According to Vembu, corruption during the earlier regime was not a hidden issue but something widely recognised by the public. He pointed to remarks allegedly made by the state's former Finance Minister, whom he described as an honest individual frustrated by the prevailing environment. Vembu claimed that after those comments became public, the minister was subsequently moved to another portfolio.
“This is not about ideology,” Vembu emphasised, arguing that concerns about corruption transcended political affiliations.

His remarks drew support from several social media users.
A social media user, Navaneeth, said, "This is exactly what exposes how evil DMK is and why CM Vijay represents hope for the people of Tamil Nadu."

Another user Entrepreneur Muthukrishnan Dhandapani also shared a similar experience. He said, "I saw Sridhar Vembu’s tweet about money being demanded even to run a completely free school for rural children in Tamil Nadu. As I shared earlier, the same thing happened to my friend when he wanted to provide high quality education free of cost to children in rural Tamil Nadu. As I said, he has now completely given up the idea and shifted his focus. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay’s primary focus is now eliminating corruption from public life in Tamil Nadu. This is the need of the hour."
The discussion has since sparked wider debate on governance, transparency, and the ease with which social and educational initiatives can operate in the state.
