Japan PM Sanae Takaichi Arrives in New Delhi for Annual Summit with PM Modi

New Delhi, July 2: Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi arrived in New Delhi on Wednesday on a three-day official visit to India, where she is scheduled to hold bilateral talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi aimed at strengthening cooperation in trade, investment, defence, and other strategic sectors.

Welcoming the Japanese leader, Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said in a post on X, "A very warm welcome to Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi of Japan, who arrives in New Delhi on an Official Visit." He added that Union Minister of State for Science and Technology, Dr. Jitendra Singh, received Takaichi upon her arrival.
Jaiswal described the visit as "an important step in taking forward the India-Japan Special Strategic and Global Partnership."
This marks Takaichi's first official visit to India since assuming office. She is visiting at the invitation of Prime Minister Modi from July 1 to 3 to participate in the 16th India-Japan Annual Summit.
According to the MEA, the summit will enable both leaders to review the entire spectrum of bilateral ties and explore ways to deepen cooperation across key sectors while exchanging views on regional and global developments of mutual interest.
As per the ministry's schedule, Prime Minister Takaichi will hold delegation-level talks with Prime Minister Modi at Hyderabad House on Thursday.
