New Delhi: Amazon CEO Andy Jassy met Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Thursday and announced plans to invest an additional USD 13 billion in India by 2030 to strengthen the company's artificial intelligence (AI) and cloud infrastructure capabilities.
During the meeting, Jassy reaffirmed Amazon's long-term commitment to India and outlined the company's expansion strategy in one of its fastest-growing markets.

According to a statement issued by Amazon, the fresh investment will increase the company's total planned capital infusion in India to USD 48 billion between 2026 and 2030.
"Amazon CEO Andy Jassy met Prime Minister Narendra Modi earlier today in New Delhi. Jassy reiterated Amazon's long-term commitment to India and announced plans to invest an additional USD 13 billion to expand AI and cloud infrastructure in the country by 2030," the company said.
The latest commitment will take Amazon's total planned investment in AI and cloud infrastructure in India to more than USD 21 billion during the 2026–2030 period, making it one of the largest global investors in the country's digital infrastructure sector.
The investment will be directed towards expanding the capacity of Amazon Web Services (AWS) data centres in Mumbai and Hyderabad. The expansion is expected to provide startups, enterprises and government organisations with greater access to AI technologies, including custom AI chips, managed AI services, cloud computing solutions and developer tools.
Amazon said the enhanced infrastructure will help businesses innovate faster, scale operations efficiently and serve customers globally through secure and reliable cloud technologies.
With the latest announcement, Amazon's cumulative investments in India between 2010 and 2030 are expected to exceed USD 88 billion, underscoring the company's growing focus on the Indian market and its digital transformation ambitions.
