New Delhi, August 17: US President Donald Trump on Monday threatened to attack Oman if the Middle Eastern country interferes with US efforts amid the ongoing conflict with Iran over the Strait of Hormuz.

"If Oman gets in the way, we'll bomb the s*** out of them," Trump said during an interview with Fox News, using strong language to warn against any intervention by the Gulf nation.

The remarks come as the United States and Iran approach the end of a 60-day ceasefire period, with tensions remaining high over the future of the conflict and the movement of ships through the Strait of Hormuz.

The strait is one of the world's most important shipping routes. It connects the Persian Gulf with the Gulf of Oman and the wider Arabian Sea, making it a crucial route for the global movement of oil and other goods.

Trump's comments came in response to a question about talks involving Iran and Oman over arrangements for managing shipping through the strategic waterway. Oman has traditionally played a role in facilitating dialogue between Iran and Western countries, including the United States.

In recent weeks, Iranian diplomats have held discussions with Omani officials as part of efforts to reach a provisional arrangement for the management of shipping through the strait.

Trump's warning therefore adds another layer of tension to an already sensitive situation, particularly because Oman has generally sought to act as a diplomatic intermediary rather than a direct participant in the conflict.

The US president also said Iran should "put up the white flag of surrender", according to Fox News journalist Trey Yingst, who posted details of the interview on X.

"They're good poker players, but they're dying," Trump was quoted as saying.

Trump also indicated that he was not working towards a fixed timetable for the conflict.

"I have no time schedule. I'm not in a hurry... the midterms have nothing to do with my thinking," he said, referring to the US congressional elections.

The comments suggest that Trump is seeking to keep pressure on Tehran while leaving the timing and terms of any further action open.

In a separate post on Truth Social, Trump said the US would continue to focus on preventing Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon.

"The number one Goal is, and always will be, that Iran cannot have, in any way, shape, or form, a Nuclear Weapon," he wrote.

The remarks come as the 60-day US-Iran ceasefire approaches its end. The deadline has renewed attention on whether the truce can be extended, whether negotiations can produce a longer-term arrangement, and how the dispute over the Strait of Hormuz will be managed.

For Oman, the situation is particularly sensitive. The country sits near the strategically important waterway and has historically maintained working relations with both Iran and Western powers. Any disruption to its diplomatic role or to shipping through the strait could have consequences well beyond the immediate US-Iran confrontation.

Trump's latest warning therefore comes at a critical point, as Washington continues to demand limits on Iran's nuclear capabilities while Tehran and regional countries seek arrangements to prevent further escalation.
