India’s engineering goods exports rose sharply by 24.48% year-on-year to $12.31 billion in May 2026, up from $9.89 billion in the same month last year, according to the Engineering Export Promotion Council (EEPC) India.

For the April–May 2026–27 period, total engineering exports reached $22.66 billion, marking a 16.8% increasecompared to $19.40 billion in the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year.

EEPC India Chairman Pankaj Chadha said the sector has “successfully navigated through a very challenging period,” maintaining steady growth despite disruptions caused by geopolitical tensions in West Asia.

He noted that the engineering export community has demonstrated strong adaptability amid volatile global conditions, with government support and trade facilitation measures playing a key role in sustaining momentum.

However, Chadha cautioned that risks remain, even as a peace agreement between the United States and Iran has been announced. He said it would take time for the agreement to stabilise energy markets and ease broader supply-chain disruptions.

“Maintaining this growth momentum will require continued focus on market expansion and product diversification,” he added, stressing the need for resilience amid ongoing global uncertainties.
