PM Modi Concludes Three-Day Seychelles Visit, Strengthens Bilateral Ties with 19 Key Agreements

Victoria (Seychelles), June 29: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday concluded his three-day state visit to Seychelles, describing it as one marked by "substantive outcomes" that further strengthened the longstanding partnership between the two nations.
During the visit, Prime Minister Modi held extensive talks with Seychelles President Patrick Herminie, focusing on expanding cooperation across key sectors and advancing a shared vision for a safe, secure and prosperous Indian Ocean region.

As he departed, Modi was seen off at the airport by Seychelles Vice-President Sebastien Pillay and members of the Indian diaspora.
"My visit to Seychelles has been filled with substantive outcomes that will boost the India-Seychelles friendship," Modi said in a post on X.
Reflecting on the bilateral relationship, the Prime Minister noted that the first 50 years of India-Seychelles ties had been built on mutual trust and shared progress. "The next fifty years will be defined by innovation, sustainability and shared prosperity," he said.
Modi, who arrived in Seychelles on Saturday, attended the country's 50th Independence Day (National Day)celebrations as the Guest of Honour.
"I am happy to have joined the National Day celebrations and that too during the time when Seychelles marks 50 years of Independence," he posted after concluding the visit.
India and Seychelles announced 19 outcomes during the visit, covering cooperation in defence, maritime security, digital payments, space, healthcare, agriculture, and education, among other sectors.
The Ministry of External Affairs described the visit as a significant milestone in bilateral relations.
"The State Visit of PM marked a significant milestone in India-Seychelles ties, reinforcing the shared commitment of deepening cooperation across sectors and advancing a common vision for a safe and prosperous Indian Ocean region," MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said in a post on X.
During his visit, Modi also addressed the National Assembly of Seychelles, calling for greater global cooperation on climate change based on the principles of fairness, responsibility and equity.
In recognition of his leadership in environmental sustainability and his efforts to advance the interests of developing countries, President Herminie conferred upon Prime Minister Modi Seychelles' prestigious 'Guardian of the Blue Horizon' award.
