Washington/New Delhi, June 13: US President Donald Trump has accused Iran of carrying out a drone attack on Indian-linked commercial vessels departing the Strait of Hormuz, calling the alleged action “totally unacceptable.” Tehran has strongly rejected the accusation, describing it as “baseless.”
In a post on Truth Social on Friday, Trump claimed that Iran was responsible for a drone attack on ships connected to India operating near the strategic waterway.

“Their totally rebuffed drone attack last night against Indian ships leaving the Hormuz Strait is TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE,” Trump wrote.
The US president also accused Iran of leaking details of ongoing peace negotiations to the media, though he did not provide evidence for either claim.
The allegation follows a series of attacks on commercial vessels off the coast of Oman this week. Three ships carrying Indian crew members reportedly came under attack, with one incident resulting in the deaths of three Indian seafarers on Wednesday.
Iran swiftly dismissed Trump's accusation. The U.S. president's accusation against Iran regarding an Indian vessel in the Strait of Hormuz is simply baseless. It is an attempt to divert public attention from the brutal fact that the U.S. has attacked 3 Indian vessels in less than a week and killed 3 innocent Indian sailors. That's pathetic!
The embassy further alleged that the United States was attempting to divert attention from attacks on Indian-linked vessels in the region.
Trump's remarks came after India summoned the chargé d’affaires of the US Embassy in New Delhi to formally protest attacks on commercial ships carrying Indian nationals near the Omani coast.
The Indian government has described the incidents as “deeply worrisome” and said it has raised the matter strongly with Washington.
The Strait of Hormuz, through which a significant share of the world's oil and gas supplies pass, remains one of the most strategically sensitive maritime routes in the world. Rising tensions in the region have heightened concerns over the safety of commercial shipping and international trade.
