New Delhi, June 26: More than a year after Operation Sindoor, the sacrifice of six Indian military personnel who laid down their lives in the line of duty has been etched into the nation's memory. Their names have now been inscribed on the Tyag Chakra at the National War Memorial in New Delhi, ensuring that their courage and service will be remembered for generations to come.
The six bravehearts include five soldiers from the Indian Army and one sergeant from the Indian Air Force (IAF). This is the first time since Operation Sindoor was carried out in May 2025 that the government has officially made public the names of the personnel who lost their lives during the mission.

Operation Sindoor
Operation Sindoor was launched by the Indian armed forces in response to the April 22, 2025, Pahalgam terror attack, which claimed the lives of innocent civilians. The operation was aimed at bringing those responsible to justice and safeguarding the nation's security.
The names engraved on Wall No. 3D of the Tyag Chakra are:
Subedar Major Pawan Kumar
Rifleman Sunil Kumar
Lance Naik Dinesh Kumar
Agniveer Mood Muralinaik
Havildar Sunil Kumar Singh
Sergeant Surendra Kumar (Indian Air Force)

Alongside their names, the memorial also bears the names of their respective units, recognising not only the individuals but also the formations they proudly served.
According to sources, the inscriptions were added recently and have also been updated on the official website of the National War Memorial.
Located near India Gate, the National War Memorial stands as the country's highest tribute to soldiers who made the supreme sacrifice in service of the nation after Independence. At its heart is the eternal flame, Amar Jawan Jyoti, surrounded by walls carrying the names of thousands of fallen heroes.
A special inscription reading "OP SINDOOR" and "2025" now marks Wall No. 3D, beneath which the names of these six personnel have been engraved. It is more than an addition to a memorial—it is a lasting reminder that while lives may be lost in service, the nation will continue to honour their courage, sacrifice and unwavering commitment to protecting India.
